Opened in 1915, the Lookout Shoals plant has for a hundred years been a key piece of our providence. Today, a small proportion is used to give rise to electricity, but Lookout Shoals and Duke Energy’s additional hydro plants supply “peak time” potential when energy is required.

Lookout Shoals Lake was formed in 1915 with the construction of the hydro-electric station. The total length of Lookout Shoals dam and all accompanying structures is 2,750 feet. The concrete gravity spillway section is 933 feet long!🌤🌊
